13-Year-Old Boy Hit By Car in Salem Crosswalk

March 5, 2010 - Salem - A teenage boy suffered personal injuries when he was hit by a car while crossing the street in Salem. According to reports in The Salem News, the 13-year-old victim was crossing Margin Street when he was hit by a car driven by 41-year-old Mark Lapointe, a Salem resident.

The pedestrian accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Monday. One car had already stopped for the boy, but Lapointe apparently did not see the boy or the car stopped in front of the crosswalk. The name of the victim has not been released. He was treated for personal injuries at North Shore Children's Hospital, where his condition is currently unknown. There were no other injuries reported in this crash.

The driver in this pedestrian accident, Mark Lapointe, was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian. It's unclear if any additional charges will be filed. This report will be updated if any additional information becomes available on the unidentified victim's condition.
