Driver in Near-Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Gloucester Was Texting

March 5, 2010 - Gloucester - Police have concluded their investigation into a serious pedestrian accident that almost took the life of a Gloucester woman last month. According to reports at WHDH.com, police have determined that the driver who caused the accident, 27-year-old Hillary Mitchell, was texting on her cell phone when she hit the victim, Jerry Favaloro.

Favaloro was crossing the street in a crosswalk when Mitchell hit her with her car, which threw the victim more than 20 feet from the scene of the pedestrian accident. Favaloro suffered serious personal injuries, including trauma to her knees, shoulder, and head. The victim has been seriously disabled since the car accident, and she requires constant help to accomplish everyday tasks like showering or going to the bathroom.
