February 8, 2009 - Methuen - Methuen police have arrested the driver in a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Friday morning. According to The Eagle Tribune, 56-year-old Lay Bou was jogging along Lowell Street Friday morning when he was hit by a car driven by 23-year-old David Diaz.
Bou was taken to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment, but his personal injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead shortly after the car accident. David Diaz was taken to Holy Family Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries. Police have charged Diaz with motor vehicle homicide and drunk driving. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in jail.
We offer our sincerest and deepest condolences to the family of Lay Bou. Our thoughts are with his friends and family during this difficult time. It would be in the Bou family's best interest to contact an experienced Massachusetts personal injury attorney who can ensure that the driver in this fatal drunk driving accident is held responsible. In addition to a criminal trial, the victim's family may bring a civil lawsuit against the negligent driver.
