February 18, 2010 - Boston - A female police officer with the Hanover Police Department suffered serious personal injuries on Tuesday night when she was dragged by a car. According to TheBostonChannel.com, Officer Deborah Burns was attempting to apprehend a shoplifter that had just stolen several thousand dollars worth of merchandise from the Sears store at Hanover Mall when the car accident occurred.
Officer Burns was dragged down the street as the suspect attempted to escape. Police are still looking for the suspects in this crime, who were driving a silver Pontiac. Burns was taken to an unnamed hospital, where she is expected to survive. Anyone with information about the two individuals involved in this case are asked to call the Hanover Police Department.
We send our best wishes to Officer Deborah Burns. We hope that she makes a full and complete recovery from her personal injuries. It would be in Officer Burn's best interest to contact an experienced Massachusetts personal injury attorney as soon as possible. There may be an opportunity for a civil lawsuit against the perpetrators once they are apprehended.
