In 2006, a hailstorm pummeled Indianapolis and damaged thousands of insured homes. State Farm received nearly 50,000 claims for property damage, and subsequently paid out more than $250 million. Unfortunately, the payout wasn't enough, and thousands of customers who didn't receive settlements filed an insurance class action lawsuit.
A federal judge in 2009 made way for the lawsuit to be brought to court. The class action included State Farm policy holders who suffered damage from the hailstorm and were denied financial compensation. Eventually, State Farm agreed to review 7,000 closed-without-payment claims, as well as an additional 29,000 claims related to the hailstorm.
If you have been similarly denied insurance claims in the state of Massachusetts, you can contact a Massachusetts class action attorney to fight for your entitled claims.
