March 2, 2010 - Norwood, Mass. - A Westwood teen died in a single-car accident Saturday night on Winter Street in Norwood, Mass. His two passengers, also teens, suffered personal injuries in the crash.
According to WickedLocal, Paul Hanley, 17, was driving his 2005 Jeep Cherokee while out with friends. At about 12:17 a.m., he struck a utility pole and then crashed into a stone wall. One of the accident victims, Joel Priestly, 17, was found standing outside the vehicle when police arrived. Priestly was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has since been released.
The other passenger, Robert Foxx, 19, had to be removed from the Jeep using the Jaws of Life. He was taken to Beth Israel, and is currently in stable condition.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the single-car accident, and authorities said icy conditions at the time of the crash may have been a factor.
Paul Hanley was a well-liked student at Westwood High school, where he played football. A memorial mass held at St. Margaret Mary's Church was well-attended by his peers.
